Heimdall is a cross-platform open-source tool suite used to flash firmware (aka ROMs) onto Samsung Galaxy S devices. Mac users interested in Heimdall for mac 10.6.8 generally download: heimdall-frontend 1.3 Free. The approach driven by Heimdall is little bit differen than the Odin. Heimdall also follows the same Odin protocol, but it is compatible with all Windows, Mac and Linux environments as a cross-platform rooting software. USB communication in Heimdall is handled by the popular open-source USB library, libusb-1.0. Heimdall uses the same protocol as Odin to interact with a device in download mode. I’m a bit of a hacker and like the hardware I own to do as it’s told. Getting Heimdall to work on your Mac I have a Samsung Galaxy Android phone and a Mac.
